The
Jos Police Command have yet to ascertain the whereabouts of a riot
police sergeant attached to the Special Task Force in Jos, who allegedly
shot one of his colleagues to death. The yet -to- be identified
sergeant is also alleged to have absconded with his rifle.
The sergeant, who served in MOPOL 4
Ibadan, before he was deployed to the task force, was said to have shot
his colleague, from MOPOL 23 Lagos and two others, in the early hours of
Saturday in Jol, Riyom Local Government area of Plateau state.
While the two others are currently
receiving treatment at Vom Christian Hospital, the former was unlucky as
he allegedly died on the spot.
A police source told PUNCH Metro on the
condition of anonymity that the killer cop was still on the run with the
rifle assigned to him, an AK 47rifle.
The source said, “Our worry now is the
use to which he might put the rifle to; but all efforts are being made
to apprehend him.” The body of the slain policeman was reportedly taken
to STF headquarters on Saturday.
STF spokesman, Capt. Salisu Mustapha,
confirmed the incident. He said, “All I know is that as of yesterday
(Saturday), the alleged killer had not been brought to the headquarters
(of STF).
In a related development, a pastor with
COCIN Church in Gwoza, Borno State, has raised the alarm over alleged
threats that he had received from an unknown GSM number.
According to the Executive Director of
Stefanos Foundation, Mr. Mark Lipdo, the caller was said to have
threatened the pastor’s life.
Lipdo said, “The pastor on Saturday,
received threat messages via texts in Hausa and calls from an unknown
GSM number, suspected to be that of a Boko haram member.
“The caller told the pastor to consider himself terminated because his blood was no longer forbidden to them.”
