NASARAWA State Governor Umar Tanko Al-Makura is locked in a battle for political supremacy with his deputy, Damishi Luka, whose
clandestine moves to succeed his boss come 2015 is causing acrimony among All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful in the volatile state.
The brewing rift, according to investigations by The Guardian, is as a result of the installation of Mr.Stanley Buba as the interim
leader of APC by the governor.
Buba, who defeated the deputy governor to win Akwanga Local Government election in 2004, is seen by the latter as an arch enemy.
Investigations showed that a group loyal to the deputy governor saw the move as denying their boss the opportunity to control the party structure in his
zone.
Buba, hitherto said not to be an original member of the APC fold, is seen as a big threat to the deputy governor’s camp.
Speaking with newsmen in Lafia, Buba insisted that his appointment was based on his track records and contributions for the party, adding that he will not join issues with “APC enemies in the state”.
But the state deputy governor, through his media aide, dismissed the rift allegation, describing it as baseless and distractive. The deputy governor further said that the alleged rift as the handiwork of enemies of the state who are hell bent on ensuring discord between him and the governor.
